ABOUT THE TEACHER
The Story
Hello! My name is Brittany Tate Alvarez, but everyone close to me calls me Tate. I am entering my second year at SK, but my fifth year of teaching overall, most of which was spent in Washington, D.C. The year prior to teaching, I was in an AmeriCorps program called City Year, which is where my passion for education first began.

It is my core belief as a teacher that it is my obligation to students to provide a place where they are heard, they are safe, they are learning, and they leave with high expectations of what their education should look like. I am committed to becoming an Anti-bias/Anti-racist educator, which I believe is a lifelong journey.

Aside from being in the classroom, I enjoy being outdoors. Hiking, running, swimming, kayaking, camping... I love it all!

I'm so excited about what we are going to do together this school year!
